Author Guidelines

English pattern

The rules for authors are based on the CSE's White Paper on Promotion Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications, 2012 Update and the Recommendations for Conducting, Describing, Editing and publishing the results of scientific work in medical journals, December 2016 (ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, December 2016).

The journal aims to summarize scientific and practical achievements in the fields of radio physics, radio engineering, electronics and computer science; raising the scientific and practical qualifications of engineers.

The objectives of the journal are the publication of articles by domestic and foreign scientists working in the fields of radio physics, radio engineering, electronics and computer science; publication of materials of reports of scientific and technical conferences held on the basis of the educational institution «Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics».

For publication in the journal, materials are accepted that reflect the results of original scientific and technical research and development, not published and not intended for publication in other publications.

 

I Recommendations to the author before article submission

Article submission to the journal «Dolkady BGUIR» implies that:

– the article was not published earlier in another journal;

– the article is not under consideration in another journal;

– all co-authors agree with the publication of the current version of the article.

Before sending an article for consideration, you must make sure that it is framed in accordance with the rules.

 

II Rules for writing an article

Article structure:

– title page;

– body of the article;

– information about the authors' contribution;

– information about the author (-s);

– address for correspondence.

The maximum article size is 9 pages.

The following information should be presented on the title page of the article. To present this information, you should use a font size of 10 pt (headset – Times New Roman).

Author name (authors' names)

The authors are people whom the scientific group identified as the main participants in the presented work and who agreed to take responsibility for part of this work. In addition to responsibility for his part of the work, the author should be able to indicate which of his co-authors is responsible for other parts of the work.

The journal «Doklady BGUIR» accepts the following authorship criteria:

– a significant contribution to the design and design of the study, data collection or analysis and interpretation of data;

– preparation of an article or its critical review in terms of significant intellectual content;

– final approval of an article for publication.

The authors list doesn't include people who are not the authors of the article. The names of people who are not authors but have provided other support should be indicated in the «Acknowledgments» section.

To present the list of authors, it is necessary to use the format «First name, middle name initial, last name». Authors first and second names in English should be indicated in such a way as they are presented in their passports or in previously published articles.

 

Authors' affiliation

The affiliation includes the following data: the full official name of the organization (institution) in accordance with its charter, the name of the city and country in which the organization (institution) is located. Authors need to indicate all places of work related to the study.

If authors from different organizations (institutions) took part in the preparation of the article, it is necessary to indicate the affiliation of each author to a specific organization (specific institution) using a superscript.

The name of the organization (institution) in English is given in accordance with its charter.

Article title

The title of the article should correspond to its content.

Abstract

The abstract volume should be between 200 and 250 words. The text of the abstract should contain the following information: the purpose of the work, the research methods used in the work, short description of obtained results, conclusion (information about the applicability of the results obtained, the advantages and disadvantages of the presented development, etc.).

The text of the annotation should not include the first introduced terms, abbreviations, references to literary sources.

Keywords

The number of keywords is not more than 10. It is desirable that the keywords don't duplicate the words used in the title of the article and in the abstract.

Acknowledgments text

In this section, all sources of funding for the study can be indicated, as well as the text of gratitude to the people who participated in the work on the article but are not its authors. Participation in the work on the article implies: recommendations for improving research, providing space for research, departmental control, obtaining financial support, single types of analysis, providing materials for research.

Information about the interests conflict or its absence

Interests conflict is the condition under which people have conflicting or competing interests that can influence the editorial decision-making. Interests Conflicts can be potential or conscious, as well as real ones. Personal, political, financial, scientific, or religious factors can affect objectivity.

The author is obliged to notify the editor of a real or potential interests conflict by including information about this in the appropriate section of the article.

If there is no conflict of interest, the author should also report this. An example of the wording that can be used for this: «The authors declare no conflict of interests».

The body of the article includes a structured text of the article, drawings, tables and a list of references, consisting of section «References».

To structure the text of the article, the IMRAD format should be used (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion). To present the text of the article, a direct-font with a size of 11 pt should be used (headset – Times New Roman). Latin characters that are variables must be in italics. Greek characters must be presented by a direct type. The line spacing in the text is 1.0.

Drawings must be of good quality, suitable for printing. The format of the drawings is JPEG or TIFF, the resolution is at least 300 dpi. It is not allowed to embed drawings from graphic editors into the file with the article, as well as add additional elements to the drawings using Microsoft Word tools. The text in the figures of the articles (axis names, explanatory labels), presented in Russian, should be presented in Russian and English languages in direct font with a Times New Roman headset. The text in the figures of articles submitted in English should be presented in English only. Latin characters that are variables must be in italics. Greek characters must be represented by a direct type. The text of the article should contain references to all drawings. An example of reference to the drawing: «In Fig. 1 indicates that ... » or «It is indicated that ... (Fig. 1)». All drawings must have captions. Drawings should be numbered in Arabic numerals in the order they appear in the text. If there is only one drawing in the text, then it is not numbered. To present the caption, you should use a font size of 10 pt (headset – Times New Roman). The caption should be centered. The caption should include the number of the drawing and its name. There isn't dot after the caption. An example of a caption: «Fig. 1. The caption».

Tables should be of good quality, suitable for printing and editing. The text of the article should contain references to all tables. An example of a reference to the table: «In the Table 1 indicates that ... » or «It is indicated that ... (Table 1)». All tables should have titles. The table title should be located above it. Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals in the order they appear in the text. If the table in the text is one, then it isn't numbered. To represent the table title, use a font size of 10 pt (headset – Times New Roman). The table title should be centered. The table title should include its number and its name. There isn't dot after the table title. An example of the presentation of the table title: «Table 1. Table title».

References

The journal uses the Vancouver format for citing literary sources, according to which the reference to the source is indicated in the text of the article and represents the item number in square brackets in the «References» section, which indicates the output of this source. A description of the output of literary sources should be presented in the order in which references to them are given in the text of the article.

In the «References» section, the output should be presented only of peer-reviewed literature sources used to write the article. The output of abstracts, dissertations, textbooks, teaching aids, standards, Internet sites, statistical reports, articles in political newspapers, etc., should are not recommended for using in this section. If necessary, references to these sources are recommended in the form of footnotes.

To describe the output of literary sources, you should use a font size of 10 pt (headset – Times New Roman).

In the output of literary sources, the last names and initials of all their authors must be indicated. The names of literary sources must be emphasized in italics.

Formulas must be typed in the MathType formula editor. When you set formulas, you must adhere to the following rules:

– use a font size of 11 pt (headset – Times New Roman);

– Latin characters present in italics;

– Cyrillic and Greek characters present by a direct-type;

– the designations of vectors and vector matrices present in bold.

Examples of designing descriptions of literary sources in the «References» section

1. Last names and initials of all authors. The article title. The journal title. Year;Volume(Issue):00-00. DOI: 0000-0000.

2. Last names and initials of all authors. The monography title. City: Publishing house; Year.

3. Last names and initials of all authors [Translation of the monography title (if it’s no in English)]City: Publishing house; Year.

 

Information about authors' contribution

In this section, it is necessary to provide information about each authors' contribution to the work. To represent this information, you should use a font size of 11 pt (headset – Times New Roman).

Information about the author (-s)

In this section, it is necessary to provide information about the academic degree, academic rank, scientific regalia (if any), the position of each of the authors of the article,

Address for correspondence

In this section, it is necessary to provide full mailing address, e-mail, telephone number, first name, middle name and last name of the author responsible for interacting with editorial staff. To represent this information, you should use a font size of 10 pt (headset – Times New Roman).

III Submission of an article for consideration

The manuscript of the article is sent to the editor through an online form (дать ссылку на англоязычную страницу с формой). The loaded file with the article should be presented in Microsoft Word format and have the extension *.doc. When completing the manuscript of the article, it is necessary to use a template with saving of all the styles which are preserved.

IV The interaction between the journal and the author

The editorial staff of the journal is in correspondence with the author, who is responsible for interacting with the editorial staff.

All articles submitted to the editorial office of the journal «Doklady BGUIR» are preliminarily checked by its executive secretary for compliance with formal requirements and design requirements. At this stage, the article can be returned to the author (s) for revision with a request to eliminate errors or add missing data. Also at this stage the article may be rejected due to its inconsistency with the goals of the journal, lack of originality, and low scientific value.

In case of a positive result of the preliminary verification of the article, the author is responsible for interacting with the editors regarding the publication of the article, a notification is sent. After receiving this notice, the author must submit the following documents to the journal editorial office:

– a paper manuscript signed by each of the authors of the article (2 copies);

– expert opinion on the possibility of publishing an article in an open source (1 copy).

Attention! Please, the procedure for submitting documents to the Editorial Office of the journal «Doklady BGUIR» coordinate with it executive secretary by tel. + 375-17-293-88-41.

 

After receiving these documents, the article is transferred to the reviewers with an indication of the terms of review. The author responsible for interacting with the editorial office regarding the publication of the article is sent a notification. In controversial cases, several experts, as well as the chief editor, may be involved in the review process. With a positive opinion of the reviewer, the article is transferred to the executive secretary for organizing the preparation for publication. The file with the final version of the layout of the article before being printed is sent to the author, who is responsible for interacting with the editors on the issue of publishing the article. The author is obliged to check the content of this article for correctness within 2 days and send information about the verification results to the editorial office of the journal. If such information is not submitted within the specified time period, the file with the final version of the layout of the article is considered an approved author.

When deciding on the revision of the article, the comments of the reviewer are transmitted to the author, who is responsible for interacting with the editors on the issue of publishing the article. The authors of the article are given 2 months to eliminate the comments of the reviewer. If during this period the author, who is responsible for interacting with the editors regarding the publication of the article, has not notified the editors about the planned actions, the article will be removed from the queue for publication.

When a decision is made to refuse publication of an article, the author is responsible for interacting with the editorial office regarding the publication of the article, a notification is sent.

 

V Procedure for revising of reviewer decisions

If the author doesn't agree with the opinion of the reviewer and / or editor or with individual comments, he can challenge the decision. For this, the author needs:

– correct the manuscript of the article according to the comments of the reviewer, with whom he agrees;

– to submit in writing, with his signature, a reasoned refusal to eliminate the reviewer's comments with which he does not agree.

 

VI Actions of the editors in the event of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data

In case of detection of dishonest behavior by the author, plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, the editors are guided by the rules of COPE.

By «unfair behavior» the editors of the journal «Doklady BGUIR» mean any actions of a scientist, including improper handling of objects of study or intentional manipulation of scientific information, in which it ceases to reflect observational studies, as well as the behavior of a scientist that does not meet accepted ethical and scientific standards.

The editors of the journal «Doklady BGUIR» don't include honest errors or honest differences in the plan, conduct, interpretation or evaluation of research methods or results, or unfair behavior unrelated to the scientific process as “unfair behavior”.

 

VII Correction of errors and recall of an article

If errors are found in the text of the article that affect its perception but do not distort the stated research results, they can be corrected by replacing the pdf-file of the article and indicating an error in the article file itself and on the article page on the journal website.

In the event that errors are found in the text of the article that distort the research results, or in the case of plagiarism, detection of dishonest behavior of the author (authors) related to falsification and / or fabrication of data, the article may be recalled. The initiator of a review of an article may be the editorial board of a journal, author, organization, or private individual.

The recalled article is marked with the sign «Article recalled», the article page contains information about the reason for withdrawing the article. Information about the recall of the article is sent to the databases in which the journal is indexed.

Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
